How do I tell
what version my PS2 is?
To find what version your PS2
is you need to firstly look
at the SCPH number as shown
below:

The SCPH number will identify
the region and partial version
for the PS2 and comes in the
form of SCPH-XXXXX (R) e.g.
SCPH-35001 R
If there is no R in the SCPH
number, then it is a Version
1-4. If there is a R then it
is either a V4R, V5, or V6.
NOTE V5 console having R suffix
i.e. SCPH-30006 R
The last number of the SCPH
number idetifies the region,
so in the example above, the
PS2 is a US version.
NOTE If the second digit is
“5” e.g. 35002, then you have
a V4.
I don’t have an R model,
what version is mine?
If there is an electrical hazard
warning on the bottom of the
case then it is a V4.
If this is not displayed on
the bottom of your console,
then you have a V1-V3.
To determine whether you have
a V1, V2 or V3, you will need
to look at the serial number
on the back of the console and
follow the guide below.
Serial number (x determines
region, U = USA, A = Australia)
x1 = version1 (with 10 screw
covers on underside)
x0 = version2 (with 10 screw
covers on underside)
x2 = version3 (with 10 screw
covers on underside)
x0 = version4 (with 8 screw
covers on underside)
x3 = version4 (with 8 screw
covers on underside)
x4 = version4 (with 8 screw
covers on underside)
x5 = version4 (with 8 screw
covers on underside)
x6 = version4 (with 8 screw
covers on underside)
I got my PS2 in Australia
and it is SCPH-30002 with serial
nummber A 0 4 2 5 1 2 1. What
Version is it?
PAL models are easy to determine
the version as the models started
from Version 3. Therefore, for
PAL all you need to do is the
following:
Does it have an R in the SCPH
number? If yes, then it is a
V4R/V5/V6
To see if you have a V4R or
V5/V6, you will need to check
the expansion bay for this screw:

If the screw is there, then
it’s a V5/V6. If it is not there,
then it is a V4R
It's not an R but has an electrical
hazard warning? This is a V4
It does not have an R or electrical
hazard warning? This is a V3
Okay so I have a R model.
How do I know if it’s a V4R
or V5/V6?

How do I tell if I have a

Please open the Expansion Bay
to check the connector!

I need to figure out what
version PS2 I have. Here is
what I know about the PS2: it
has 8 screws, serial number
is u4098055 model number is
scph-30001 there is no R at
the end of the model number.
can you help me out in what
version I have?
If you have an electrical hazard
warning on the bottom of the
case then it would be a V4
